OUGH

OUGH (2021)

video, 2 minutes ough: a cluster of letters that amount to no obvious definition or sound; that which gets caught in the eye’s throat. Like someone leaving the room, OFF / UFF / OO / OH follows closely behind what is already out of frame. Though foundations determine regulated outcomes, what we do with the fragments suggests another wor(l)d is possible.

Video footage of New York and Olympia between August 2019-Dec 2020, all of which were originally shot for three separate projects that remain incomplete and private. M helped shoot the hallway scenes. Sound is a composition of two voice memo recordings with minimal alteration: the first was taken in early March of 2020, while waiting for breakfast at my mom’s apartment in Queens. The second, in July of 2015, while waiting for the M train on the 14th St platform.
