So as not to commit a “dog crime,” I take the 2 from home toward the theaters and then find my way onto a 3 or 4 for the way back. I look forward to what awaits on the nighttime avenue. A set of coin rides have something to say, but whether or not they will speak when I pass by remains a surprise. Awning light blends lines into the block that disappear as I move further and further away. A person walks in the opposite direction. What are we thinking as we approach each other? Will someone ask me for a favor tonight?
